Wandana Sonalkar has researched and written extensively on gender and caste. She published Why I am Not a Hindu Woman: A Personal Story in 2021. She was formally Professor, Women’s Studies, TISS, Mumbai. She studied Mathematics, Ancient Indian Culture, and finally Economics at Cambridge University. She taught Economics at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, and took the lead in starting a Women’s Studies Centre there. She has translated texts from Marathi into English, including Urmila Pawar and Meenakshi Moon’s book on Women in the Ambedkar Movement and the autobiography of R.B. More.
