A child of a Bangladeshi Dalit refugee family, he has pulled rickshaws in Kolkata, done menial jobs, been in jail, (where he taught himself to read and write) worked in central India’s tribal belt and is now a Trinamool Congress representative. He has written powerfully and eloquently about his life. Manoranjan Byapari talks about the hardships he faced and what kept him going. This session will be in Hindi.


Manoranjan Byapari

Manoranjan Byapari taught himself to read and write at the age of 24 and has authored several books in Bengali, which have been translated into many languages. He is a member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly
